I've been constructing a quilt in a sewing class I enrolled into at a local community centre, so that I could learn to read patterns and make far more than quilts and very basic things.
One of the ladies in our group found a Beginners Quilt Along on another blog and encouraged us all to jump in. I hesitated, cos frankly I thought two quilts was enough at one time, (neither has been completed as I sit here). I sat back and watched their choices in fabric, their blocks came to life and most of them have won random weekly prizes for their efforts. (Yay lovelies!)
It took 3 weeks/blocks before I caved, not only did I cave, I brought my two daughters nearly 7 & just turned 9 with me...
If you're a quitler, it's not too late to join on in. It's one block per week with a 12 or 13 block quilt at the end.... It's for beginners, so even if you aren't a quilter yet, this could be the beginning of it all for you.
Here is a sample of some of our efforts so far...
The one above is my 9yo's first block EVER! (Block 4)
This is my 7 yo's first block of the quilt along (Block 4)
This is my favourite, so far, of my blocks (Block 2)
My 7 yo's first block (Block 2)
This was my first block of the BQA (Block 4)
